General Updates

  • We are off to a fantastic start! Our choirs have spent the first few weeks building community, establishing routines, and beginning our first concert repertoire.


  • Extracurricular ensemble auditions are complete! Congratulations to the students selected for Choraliers, Muses, and Octave Below. We had a great turnout and are excited to see these groups get started.


  • Popcorn Fundraiser Delivery is coming up! There isn’t a solidified delivery date yet, but I will update everyone as soon as we have more information!


  • September is a busy month for our program as Treble Voices and Tenor Bass Choir prepare for our first performance of the year: Music Mosaic!


Highlights of the Month

  • Congratulations to Adan Esparza for singing the National Anthem at the September 10 football game! You did a fantastic job representing SHS Choir and sharing your voice with our school community. Way to go, Adan!


  • A big thank you to Fiona McJannett and Alessia Ruggieri for singing the National Anthem at the Schaumburg Fire Department's 9/11 Memorial Service. You both did a phenomenal job representing SHS Choir and our school community at such a meaningful event. We are so proud of you!


  • Our first Choir Parent Volunteer Crew (PVC) Meeting is Monday, September 14! All choir parents and guardians are invited to join us from 6:00–7:30 PM in the SHS Choir Room. The PVC is a great way to stay connected with our program, meet other choir families, and find ways to support our students and faculty. There is no commitment to attend every meeting. Join us whenever you can!Want to stay connected with the PVC? Complete the Choir PVC Form to receive meeting reminders, agendas, minutes, and other updates throughout the year.


  • North Park University Field Trip is this Wednesday! Students will participate in a vocal technique workshop with Dr. Julia Davids, Director of Choral Activities at North Park University, and take a tour of campus.All students attending the field trip must submit their field trip forms by Monday during their choir class period. Please be sure to include any food allergies or dietary restrictions we should be aware of on the form.


  • Music Mosaic is almost here! Our Treble Voice and Tenor Bass choirs will join the rest of the SHS Music Department for our first concert of the year on Thursday, September 24 at 7:00 PM. Student call time is 5:30 PM. Note that Treble Choir (1st Period) won’t be performing.


  • ILMEA audition preparations are underway! Students participating in ILMEA auditions have workshops throughout September as they prepare their audition materials.


  • Our student leaders and returning singers have done a wonderful job welcoming new members into the SHS Choir community. We are excited about the energy our ensembles are bringing into this year!
