Concert Choirs.

Schaumburg High School is proud to offer 3 curricular concert choirs. All concert choirs meet during the school day for 50 minutes each.

Curricular choir encompassed by freshman and sophomore, soprano and alto voices. This choir focuses on the fundamentals of singing, introductory choral literature, and basic music theory. Expected to sing at 4 of the major concerts. Treble choir meets during first period, a guaranteed great start to the school day!

Treble Choir

Curricular choir encompassed by junior and senior, soprano and alto voices. This choir focuses on the fundamentals of singing, intermediate to advanced choral literature, and intermediate music theory. This choir frequently combines with Bass Choir for mixed performances. Expected to sing at 5 of the major concerts. Treble Voices meets during second period.

Treble Voices

Curricular choir encompassed by freshman through senior, tenor and bass voices. This choir focuses on the fundamentals of singing, varying levels of choral literature, as well as varying levels of music theory. Bass Choir frequently combines with Treble Voices for mixed performances. Expected to sing at 5 of the major concerts. Bass Choir meets during fifth period.

Bass Choir

Extracurricular Choirs.

Schaumburg High School currently has 3 extracurricular choirs. All ensembles meet weekly either after school or outside of school.

 

Any groups of students who would like to create an ensemble are welcome to talk to Mr. Muro about how to get started.

Faculty-led extracurricular choir that is audition-based. Freshmen through seniors of any voice part are welcome to audition. This choir takes the foundations that the curricular choirs provide and provides a deeper understanding of artistic expression. The Choraliers typically perform at 5 of the major concerts as well as Jazz 'n Joe. This choir meets once a week after school.

Size of Ensemble: Typically 12-14 students

Perform at: Mosaic, Fall Concert, Winter Concert, Pops Concert, Spring Concert,

                     Jazz 'n Joe

Choraliers

Student-led extracurricular choir that is audition-based. Freshman through senior soprano/altos are welcome to audition. Muses typically perform at 5 of the major concerts as well as Jazz 'n Joe. This choir meets once a week outside of school.

Size of Ensemble: Typically 6 singers.

Perform at: Mosaic, Fall Concert, Winter Concert, Pops Concert, Spring Concert,

                     Jazz 'n Joe.

Muses

Student-led extracurricular choir that is audition-based. Freshmen through senior tenor/basses are welcome to audition. Octave Below typically perform at 4 of the major concerts. This choir meets once a week after school.

Genres of Music Performed: Vocal Jazz, Pop, Barbershop, A Cappella

Size of Ensemble: Typically 4-5 singers.

Perform at: Fall Concert, Winter Concert, Pops Concert, and Spring Concert.
